Norwich City 3–4 Middlesbrough: Heartbreak at the Riverside

Norwich City suffered a brutal late defeat on Saturday as Middlesbrough edged a seven-goal thriller 4–3 at the Riverside Stadium.

The Canaries couldn't have asked for a better start. Mohamed Touré opened the scoring inside the first minute, pouncing on a mistake in the Middlesbrough defence before keeping his composure to finish into the far corner.

However, Norwich's lead lasted only moments. Middlesbrough hit back through Sebastian Berhalter, who fired into the net to make it 1–1. Just minutes later, Amario Cozier-Duberry completed Boro's quick turnaround, leaving Norwich 2–1 down.

The game remained wide open, with both sides creating chances, but Middlesbrough struck again shortly before half-time. Berhalter grabbed his second of the afternoon to give the hosts a 3–1 advantage at the break.

Norwich needed a response — and they certainly provided one.

Jovon Makama pulled a goal back in the 70th minute, giving the Canaries hope of an unlikely comeback. Just five minutes later, Jacob Wright completed the revival, making it 3–3 and sending the travelling Norwich supporters into celebration.

From 3–1 down, Norwich had fought their way back into the game and looked capable of leaving Teesside with something to show for their efforts.

Deep into stoppage time, Ashley Phillips struck for Middlesbrough to make it 4–3. Norwich had no time to respond, and the final whistle confirmed a heartbreaking defeat.

The travelling Norwich support, with around 900 fans making the trip, were left devastated after watching their side battle back only to lose at the very end.

Norwich City 2–1 Birmingham City

 

What a night at Carrow Road! Norwich battled their way to a big three points against Birmingham, showing character and determination to come from behind and secure the win.

A strong second-half response sealed the victory, with the Canaries holding on to claim all three points and send the home crowd home happy.

A huge win for Norwich!

Sheffield United 1–3 Norwich City:

Norwich City produced an impressive away performance at Bramall Lane on Saturday, beating Sheffield United 3–1 in the Championship.

The Canaries made the perfect start, taking the lead after just eight minutes when Anthony Musaba found the net.

Sheffield United responded through Patrick Bamford, who levelled the contest in the 23rd minute. Norwich, however, restored their advantage just before half-time as Mohamed Touré scored in the 44th minute to send the visitors into the break 2–1 ahead.

Norwich continued to look dangerous after the restart and eventually extended their lead in the 62nd minute. Mathias Kvistgaarden struck to make it 3–1 and put the Canaries firmly in control.

Sheffield United were unable to find a way back into the match, and Norwich saw out the remainder of the game to secure all three points.

It was a convincing away victory for Norwich, who showed plenty of attacking quality and resilience after Sheffield United had equalised.

Stoke 1–0 Norwich:

Norwich City suffered a frustrating 1–0 defeat to Stoke at the bet365 Stadium.

Ethan Galbraith's early strike was enough to separate the sides, despite Norwich dominating possession and creating several good chances.

Viktor Johansson was outstanding for Stoke, making crucial saves to deny Norwich an equaliser. The Canaries pushed until the final whistle but couldn't find a way through.

After the 4–1 win over Burnley, it was a disappointing result for Norwich, who will feel they deserved more from the game.

Norwich 4–1 Burnley: 

Norwich City gave their supporters something to shout about as they produced a brilliant 4–1 victory over Burnley at Carrow Road. The Canaries could hardly have wished for a better start.

Mohamed Touré struck inside two minutes before André Brooks doubled the advantage just three minutes later. Burnley looked shell-shocked, and Norwich were suddenly playing with the confidence of a side determined to put their difficult opening league results behind them. 

Touré grabbed his second on 21 minutes, turning Norwich's dominance into a commanding 3–0 lead. Burnley did manage to respond through Josh Laurent before half-time, giving the visitors a glimmer of hope.

Burnley came out with more purpose after the break and even hit the post, but Norwich weathered the pressure. When Brooks added his second of the afternoon in the 67th minute, the points were effectively secured.

Things went from bad to worse for Burnley when Laurent was sent off for a second yellow card in the 77th minute, leaving the Clarets with no realistic route back into the game.

 

Norwich V Cardiff: Carabao Cup Round 2:

Cardiff's Carabao Cup campaign is over after Norwich claimed a 2-1 win in South Wales.

The Bluebirds battled throughout, but Ante Crnac marked his return from injury with a decisive goal as the Canaries progressed to round three. A spirited Cardiff display, but Norwich delivered when it mattered.

Milwall V Norwich

 

Norwich City suffered a disappointing defeat at The Den as Millwall ran out 3-0 winners. Tairyk Arconte scored twice to put Millwall in control before Luke Cundle sealed the points late on. Norwich were reduced to ten men after José Córdoba was sent off, making an already difficult afternoon even tougher.A frustrating result for the Canaries, who will now look to bounce back in their next match. Full Time: Millwall 3-0 Norwich City

Norwich City V West Brom

 

 

Norwich City 1–2 West Bromwich

West Bromwich Albion have started the Championship season with a dramatic 2–1 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road.

The first half ended goalless, with Norwich enjoying plenty of possession but struggling to turn their pressure into goals.

West Brom broke the deadlock in the 75th minute through a controversial ‘handball’ goal before Jimmy Morgan doubled the Baggies’ advantage in the 87th minute. Norwich responded almost immediately through Mathias Kvistgaarden, who pulled one back in the 90th minute.

Despite a late push from the Canaries, West Brom held on to secure all three points.

Norwich finished the match with 54% possession and 20 shots, while West Brom managed eight shots. Norwich also had seven shots on target, but West Brom goalkeeper Alex O’Leary made several important saves.

 Carabao Cup Outing!

Norwich City's last outing was a Carabao Cup Round 1 fixture against MK Dons. Norwich City thrashed the Dons 4-1. Mohammed Toure gave the Yellows an early lead by scoring in the first minute. Anis Ben Slimane then scored in the seventh through a really tidy finish.  Ben Chrisene scored our third and final goal in the First Half! MK Dons was awarded a penalty 11 minutes into the second half but Vladan Kovacevic saved the pen and put it out for a corner.  MK Dons did score from that corner in the 56th minute. 3 minutes later the Canaries three goal defecitt was restored through Debutant Andre Brooks. Norwich V Cambridge

In Norwich's last outing, they played Cambridge United behind closed doors at Colney Avant Training centre. The two teams held each other to an exciting 0-0 draw. Some good news for Norwich fans though, as Ante Crnac returns to action after being out because of an ACL injury that happened in October 2025! Norwich end their pre season with a draw against the U's.

Norwich V Osasuna

Recent Results: 

In Norwich's penultimate game of pre season against La Liga side Osasuna, they lost 1-2.

Norwich took the lead through Harry Darling in the 61st minute. 6 minutes later, the Canaries gave away a penalty and Raul calmly slotted it home. The game was even after that point but in the dying seconds of the match, deep in to stoppage time Osasuna score a tidy little chip over Vladan Kovacevic. Full Time: Norwich 1- 2 Osasuna. This was Norwich's first loss in out of their six pre season friendlies.

Injury News for the Canaries:

Ali Ahmed: Ali Ahmed is the most recent Norwich player to be added to the injury list. He suffered a knee injury in the Canaries Penultimate pre season friendly against Osasuna. The injury was described as 'Really Bad'. Ali Ahmed managed to walk off by his own after a few minutes of treatment but not good news for Norwich fans as he is a key player for Norwich. Phillipe Clement has recently stated in a public interview at the forum that: 'He is not a doctor, but it does not look good for Ali.' 6 Days after the match, Norwich City have put out a statement that has said he has ruptured his ACL and will be out for the season.
